About Dr. Mike Smith:

I was born and raised with one older brother in Flandreau, South Dakota.  My Mom was an elementary teacher in the public school and my Dad taught at the Flandreau Indian School.  I am a 1997 graduate of Flandreau High School and a 2001 graduate of South Dakota State University.  During that time, I bounced different careers around in my head; sport science, athletic training, physical therapy, medicine, or Chiropractic.

I chose the Chiropractic profession after seeing first hand what it did for me growing up as a young athlete and throughout my college basketball career.  It helped me to recover faster, feel better, and perform at my highest ability.  I realized this can be done with all individuals, not just athletes.  The non-invasive form of healthcare made sense to me; let the body heal itself!

I completed my Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN, in 2006.  I married my high school sweetheart, Andrea, who is the mother of our three beautiful children, Kiesli (2006), Luka (2009), and Isley (2012).

The opportunity to serve the residents of Rock County presented itself when Dr. Bill Pruess decided to retire and sell his practice.  We were blessed to open Rock County Chiropractic in 2007.  Since that time, Luverne has opened its arms to our family, and provided a great community in which to raise our children.  I am passionate about helping people achieve optimal health, educating patients about their body and condition, and having a positive influence within the community!
